Turquoise Tuesday, Boston Style

Another trip the Boston Design Center. Switching from driving to taking public transporation to from Portland to Boston is not only a greener method of transport but also far less stressful, leaving me fresher and more open to inspiration. Here are pops of the 2010 color of the year:
Turquoise Leather. Now that takes some confidence. Its gorgeous, comfortable and is a fresh modern twist on a classic armchair.

Duralee showroom-more turquoise leather! Seriously? This time in pillows, and it looked great. Their showroom is always put together so well. Here are some of my favorite Duralee fabrics in that wonderful color range.

Blog readers get 20% off any Duralee orders with Fiore Interiors if they reference this specific blog post. For more information, email info@fioreinteriors.com or find us via the contact page

Inspired Paper?

A couple weeks ago I got to spend an evening listening to creative geniuses Fritz and Stephen of Eepy Bird talk about nurturing creativity. I know that inspiration is often richest when found in simple things, but check this out:

(You will have to click on it and enlarge it to get the full effect)

Wow! I took a couple shots of the sticky note waterfall I saw in person:

I was reminded of an awesome wallpaper pattern by AphroChic. Aphro Chic uses healthy (no VOC) materials and innovative designs in their brand new product line.

"The Vibe" wall paper.

Do you SEE the resemblance? They both have a kinetic vibe to me (and both are made out of....paper).

A big thank you to Maine Center for Creativity, who nurtures creative entrepreneurs in all aspects of design and business. Fiore Interiors has benefitted from every photo, seminar, and guest speakers at your events.

A Well Designed Black Friday (List)

I am not Oprah. Though I wish I was (who doesn't?). But like all shoppers I have my list of wants and dreams. Black Friday frightens me because you can end up buying complete crap (sorry) because it's on sale. So I dug a little deeper into MY favorite things, both local here in Maine and nation wide, to find GOOD design that will be impervious to things like buyer's remorse. And yes, they ARE ON SALE today.

By request, the list also covers a range of prices, from higher to lower, because Fiore philosophy=good design should be accessible to all.

Enjoy!

To lay your weary heads on...or to recline in style:

Mandala by AphroChic

dear santa, please send me a mandala so I may dream more often...

And since Company C is doing a buy one get one half off promotion...get two! $130 or $195 for two.

My favorite style on a budget pillow is from Tar-jay (Target)

$24.99 sounds fine.

ANGELA ADAMS NATURE INSPIRED RUGS.
Ok I have TWO favorite patterns. Above is Birch/Evening and Below is Ocean/Sand and Ocean/Seaglass

I love these rugs down to the tips of my toes-LITERALLY. I have walked on them barefoot and the plush texture is ALMOST more amazing thant the design. You will want to get your shoes off asap. Even a smaller rug next to your bed, where your bare feet hit the floor every morning, will make a huge difference.

Fiore NEWS

This is a sneak peak of Fiore Interior's NEW upholstery line!

While we like to purchase from local stores whenever possible, for larger projects its best to communicate directly with the factory, especially on custom designs.
Timber Sofa

The entire line can be done in fabric or leather, and is customizable. The images in white are to clearly display the lines of the pieces. What type of fabric would YOU use?

Bromeliad Sofa

Jacque Chaise
Tess ottoman

It's important to have quality, american made upholstery to stand the test of time (and children). No cutting corners on anything that will have the Fiore name sewn into it!

Sorry Kermit, but it IS easy being  GREEN:
  • Frames are made with renewable American maple (not shipped in on freighters)
  • Water based finishes are used on the wood legs
  • Recycled foam is used as foundations for arms and seat edges
  • All packing materials are reused or recycled
  • Organic cotton/linen fabric options available

A larger preview can be seen on our FACEBOOK page.

Turquoise Tuesday-local edition

image via tony hill

Locally operated (though made in India), Company C has a store in Portland Maine that is a source of inspiration for me. ahhhhh Turquoise, how you soothe me!

Gorgeousness
deco peacock pillow (also available as a rug)

Not for the faint of heart, this sectional is clean lined and small scale (though very comfortable) which is the wisest way to show color on major pieces.
The sofa sits on the tiffany peacock rug:
The subtle shadings of aqua and green enrich the turquoise.

Vibrant color isn't trendy , it surrounds us in nature: sunsets, waterfalls, flowers, animals, fall foliage, etc. Embrace it.
(if you would like someone to help make the inspiration a reality, call FIORE)
